Admissions Coffee Hour - Writing Your Application Essays
Description
Grab a cup of coffee or warm mug of tea and join our Admissions Team for a casual, online conversation about the process of writing your application essays for our Graduate Programs. We'll be joined by our very own Admissions Counselor and Seattle School alum, Milli Haase, M.A., MDiv and Writing Center Consultant, Nicholas Diaz, M.A.! They'll be answering questions specifically about what we are looking for in your application essays and giving you a few tips and tricks about working on these writing pieces. Be sure to bring your questions and get ready to imagine the practicalities of joining our learning community!
Milli Haase is a Jesus following, anti colonial academic theologian with years of experience teaching writing at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Through her teaching and counseling, she encourages prospective Seattle School students to believe in their abilities, to trust their calling, and to begin putting into words what it is they’re hoping to build in this world.
Nicholas Diaz was hired into The Writing Center at The Seattle School last year, and they have enjoyed every minute of it. Holding a master’s in English with a concentration in creative writing from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, Nicholas endeavors to hold the creative and the academic, the spiritual and the intellectual, together in one. At The Seattle School, where students are asked to self-reflect as much as to grapple with unfamiliar ideas, the creative elements of poetic and autobiographical writing are as essential as the well-researched argument. Nicholas is glad to spend the days thinking through this confluence with Seattle School students.
